Dr. Keleigh Blount (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in North Carolina and holds a PhD in Rehabilitation Counseling and Rehabilitation Counselor Education and a MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina A&T State University, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in Greensboro, North Carolina. Prior to earning her licensure, she also served proudly in the United States Air Force.
My helping and clinical journey has always centered around adolescents, family systems, couples and elders in the community. I served as a house parent and case manager at Baptist Children’s Home, a group home based in North Carolina. There I worked with children needing emergency services, teenagers transitioning out of group home life, and teenage mothers. I continued to work with children and families referred to counseling by the Juvenile Justice system and with young adults at North Carolina State University counseling center. During my time as a mental health clinician, I have worked with family systems navigating life transitions, depression, anxiety, grief, interpersonal violence, suicidal ideation, identity and gender exploration, sexual exploration, intergenerational trauma, medical trauma and acute trauma symptoms.
As a clinician, I believe in collaborating with clients to craft a therapeutic space that is conducive for unique mental wellness needs. The client is the expert in their own life, and I am here to assist and guide you in meeting your goals in the way that best suits your needs. I also believe in addressing internal and external environmental factors in counseling. Therefore, I utilize an integrated Person-Centered, Emotion Focused and Relational-Cultural Therapeutic approach that centers a social justice lens. I also like to incorporate expressive arts, bibliotherapy, experiential activities, somatic exercises, CBT techniques, group counseling and play therapy into sessions to assist clients with self-exploration.
