Grief & Loss

How do I recognize if I've been experiencing grief?

Loss and grief can be extremely painful for some. If you have or are experiencing grief and loss in your own life here are some symptoms below to look for:

  • Numbness and detachment with self
  • Feeling that life holds no meaning or purpose
  • Have trouble carrying out normal routines
  • Isolating yourself from others
  • Deep sadness
  • Guilt or self blame
  • Lack of trust with yourself or others

Grief and loss can become very difficult at times. Grief and loss can be expressed in the symptoms above. However, grief and loss can show up in the body  in various forms as well. For example, it can weaken the immune system and cause inflammation in the body. This looks like getting sick more frequently and lowering the body’s immune system to fight off germs or other bad things entering your body. In return it weakens the immune system and makes the grieving and loss experience even more difficult to manage.
