It is such a pleasure to meet you! Congratulations on taking the first step towards a healthier you.
As a child and family therapist, I practice from a Solution-Focused perspective, where I partner with my clients and families to help them uncover strengths unique to each individual. I believe in setting goals and orienting a focus towards the future. For individuals and families, I employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy interventions where appropriate, challenging problematic thoughts that affect feelings and behavior. With younger clients, I utilize play therapy, creating a safe, accepting, and nurturing space. This allows a child to find their own voice and instills confidence, which enables them to transform and transcend everyday problems into livable, working solutions. I believe in assisting all of my clients in acquiring useful mindfulness tools to combat the daily stressors and challenges of life.
I graduated from North Carolina State University with my Masters in Social work, and became a LCSW-A. I completed two years of clinical training, focusing on Early-Child Intervention (5 and under), where I provided Play Therapy to children who experienced trauma. I also provided Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to children, teens, and adults. Additionally, I was trained in developmental and Autism assessments and in providing therapeutic interventions to individuals with Autism and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and their families. My work always begins by educating my clients on their diagnoses and empowering them to be knowledgeable and active participants in the direction of their treatment. I have led individual and group Emotion Coaching classes, focusing on the emotional regulation of both parents and children.
I look forward to taking this journey with you.
