Hi, I am so happy you are here! Beginning something new is hard, especially when it is something so deeply personal and meaningful as therapy.

My name is Kamara and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. I graduated with my Masters in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have worked with a wide range of individuals with various diagnoses both psychological and medical. Majority of my experience has been working with individuals with medical diagnoses that have impacted their functioning and assisting in redefining their identity while ensuring they are able to continue to implement the things they value in their lives. Additionally, I have research experience in reproductive mood disorders and their impact on the occurrence of depressive symptomatology in teens. I primarily work with clients who may experience symptoms of depression, anxiety, adjustment challenges, stress, and difficulty in life transitions.

My goal as a therapist is to be a consistent, supportive presence while assisting you in defining your goals and navigating the challenges that arise. In order to do this, I use compassion, person-centered aspects, and strengths-based approaches to foster a warm, safe environment to explore your thoughts and feelings in a curious and open-minded manner. I will also adapt my approach according to what works for each unique client by utilizing other various techniques from acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy. My hope is that you feel you can come as you are and we will work together to foster a collaborative environment in which you feel safe, secure, calm, and supported. I am simply here to walk along with you through your journey towards healing and inner acceptance by building on your strengths and offering therapeutic techniques to address what brings you to therapy.

Just by being here you are giving yourself the best form of self-love and compassion and I am honored to be a part of your journey!
