How to Navigate Change

As we approach the fall season, the leaves are not the only things that can experience change. Change could be happening in your life during any season. If change is difficult for you or you are resistant to different changes in your life, you are in good hands! Check out these 4 tools that will help you as you navigate change in your life.

Identify what you can and cannot control. This could look like writing down what you can and cannot control on a piece of paper or other note taking platform. Being able to visually see and reflect on these thoughts and feelings can be a helpful tool to manage how you feel about change as well. Naming what you can and cannot control can also help you realize where you are applying your personal energy and adjusting accordingly.

Try some mindfulness techniques. Grounding/mindfulness activities can be a great way to bring you back into the present moment when change feels overwhelming. Some grounding techniques include but are not limited to, breath work, focusing on your 5 senses, naming objects you see around you and many more.

Create a daily schedule. Creating a schedule can be a helpful way to keep you organized when change happens throughout the day. Having a schedule to go off of can make it a little easier to keep track of daily tasks and information so when something unexpected happens in your day, you can look back at your schedule and not feel as overwhelmed.
